The Splendid Fairy-wren has eye catching colour and attitude in one pretty little package!
Inspired by the colour of these birds, which is often an electric blue with touches of purple and turquoise, this design was created by combining a digital illustration with a traditional alcohol marker illustration.
The original direction was to create an artwork with pops of colour, just like the birds themselves. These Australian birds often breed in Hakea variations – which is the reason for the Hakea tree in the background!
